Mickler Mile 2008
May 22nd, 2008 — News
Now that — was interesting!! Good fun had by all, and the road all to ourselves as most of the world was sleeping in on Memorial Day! Many thanks to Mo (aka Massage by Mo — check the back of your membership card!) for organizing and conducting the race. Also, thanks to Jim Wauldron for shirts, Dave and Leah Beck for equipment support, and Nichole Gebhart for race results coordination.
Justin Taylor took top honors — again — for the men with a 4:28, and Libby Bergman was the top female finisher in 5:47. We had 3 runners break the 5 minute mark, and 10 break the 6 minute mark among the total of 43 participants! Nice work!

Lighthouse 5K Results
March 19th, 2008 — Race Results
On a hot and windy day, the Lighthouse 5K was held with the assistance of ACRR providing timing support. Many Road Runners worked the race and ran the race, but special thanks to Don and Al Hollingsworth for their many hours packing up and setting up the finish chute and directional signs on the course. Thanks guys!!

2008 Gate River Run
March 12th, 2008 — News
Now that . . . was WINDY!!! In case you missed it, the Gate River Run 15K was held this past weekend in Jacksonville and someone left the fan on! Head winds and tail winds were not such a big deal, but the cross-wind wreaked havoc on both bridges, as well as a short stretch along the river where the pure, pristine waters of the St. Johns River were whipped into a frenzy and dropped rather rudely upon us!!
That being said — WHAT FUN! The finish was in the stadium where the Jaguars play, and where a large contingent of Ancient City Road Runners high stepped on the Jumbotron! Thanks to all who showed and ran and supported, and special recognition to the following ACRR sub-60s: Chris Calkins 53:17; Justin Taylor 57:29; and Kevin Sweeny 58:05
Ancient City Road Runners Rock Anastasia Lanes
February 25th, 2008 — News
What a blast!
Thanks a ton to everyone that came out to JP Hennley’s and Anastasia Lanes to celebrate with OFC president Jim “Old Man” Wauldron and yours truly.
Despite my explicit directions to not bring any presents, I was showered with a ton of awesome gifts, from kegs of beer, cases of beer, wine, and wine stoppers (do I have a problem I need to 12 step?) to shirts, hats, and scratch off tickets worth $1,000 if you’re drunk and cross eyed, but actually $2 if you’re sober. More on that later.
The best gift of all was seeing everyone laughing, goofing off, and just having a great time.

And a lot of you really pulled out all the stops to be there. For example, Shelby had a 30 minute hall pass (an incredibly rare and valuable asset for any mother) and what does she do…? She comes out to the bowling alley to hang with all of us and wish Jim and I a happy birthday. How awesome is that? Shelby, you rock.
All of you rock.
Meredith’s due date is just around the corner but she’s throwing strikes and spares with the rest of us. (We won’t tell the doctor) Even Fred was there. He was the fourth person to show up at the lanes… chompin’ at the bit to chuck some marble.
Seriously, nothing’s better than being around friends, laughing at ourselves, and each other, slapping high fives at the rare and elusive strike and throwing back a few brewskies.
I am Puma, Hear Me Roar
El Presidente, Dear Leader, Jay “Birdman” Floyd showed up with intimidating skull socks and tacky bowling shirt. Just to make sure I knew who was boss, he let loose his war cry and and pirate scowl. Intimidation was on his side…
But out of nowhere, Todd and Margaret strolled in wearing matching professional bowling uniforms emblazoned with Red Bull logos and customized with iron-on initials.
Their red and black Puma shirts must have inspired Todd’s inner kitty because he notched the high score of the evening. We’d expect nothing less from Todd, the uber-competitive all around athlete.
Bowling Birthday Bash Bonanza
February 21st, 2008 — News

I’ve been talking about going bowling since we moved down here in 2004. This weekend the Ancient City Road Runners are invited to partake in the bowling birthday bash bonanza of your very own OFC President Jim Wauldron and resident computer geek/webmaster Jack Born. (My official title is “CEO of a multinational software marketing company”.)
While Jim truly is an OF… I’m turning 9. Leapyear math.
So please join us at the Anastasia bowling alley this Saturday. Get there at 6:50 for the best choice of shoes and to grab your favorite balls… I couldn’t resist.
It’s $10 per person for the shoes, ball and 2 hours of bowling.
PS - No birthday gifts, no mimes, and no clowns.
Costumes anyone?
ACRR Election Results
February 13th, 2008 — News

I’m happy to announce the glorious victory of our dear leader Jay Floyd. Every member of the ACRR was given the opportunity to vote for our wonderful incumbent president.
The triumphant win was almost unanimous and the one dissenting voter has been enrolled in a distant education center where he will learn to appreciate our deity’s unsurpassed wholesome goodness.
