Summary of the meeting:
-- We have narrowed down the New Orleans lodging to two hotels. Rick and Reuben are calling them to make sure we have their absolute lowest rate. Once we make the final decision, that information will be posted here. We are trying to get a block of 30 rooms.
-- Cindy spoke about Pink Up The Pace, which is on Oct. 6. The Expo will be at the Ponce Mall on Oct. 5, 4-8pm. She will need volunteers to help with packet pick-up. The packet stuffing will also be at the Ponce Mall on Oct. 3, starting promptly at 6pm. Cindy has posters and yard signs if you have somewhere to hang them.
-- Dave will be conducting a timing training for anyone interested in learning to time races. The training will cover the details of timing - entering data, using the time machine, tabulating results, etc. The date is Tues., Aug. 28 after the Publix run, and it will hopefully be held at The Groove. Watch the board for details.
-- Jay F. unveiled the awesome Matanzas 5000 logo designed by Brenna. It's on our home page if you haven't seen it yet. Thanks, Brenna!
-- We voted to start giving money to middle school cross country programs in addition to the high schools.
-- Jay F. made us aware of a Crab Trap Clean-Up on Aug. 25. There may be some members interested in volunteering.
-- We voted to sponsor one middle school and one high school cross country meet this season.
-- Rick brought shirt samples to the meeting. We voted to place an order for 250 red shirts - a mix of women's tank and v-neck and men's tank and crew neck - for around $11 each.
-- The birthday social will be on Aug. 23 at Coquina Beach Surf Club.
